Admissions Process

Admissions Process

Thank you for considering Fairmont Private Schools for your child’s education. Our thorough admissions process allows us to identify students who are a good fit for our program and who will be successful not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. Depending upon the grade, program and/or campus you are considering, the steps in our admission process may vary somewhat.

  • Step 1: Tour

To begin, we invite you to tour the campus you are considering for enrollment (you are welcome to tour as many campuses as you like) so that you will have a personal connection to Fairmont’s teachers, curriculum and learning environment. We often find that the intangibles you experience on a campus tour help tell the Fairmont story better than any other form of communication. During your initial visit to the campus, the Admissions Director will talk with you about your child and your expectations for his or her education. This informal interview allows us to understand more about your family, your own educational philosophies and your child’s unique abilities and personality. We ask that parents complete an Application for Admission before moving further in the admissions process.
  • Step 2: Assess

The next step is to schedule an assessment of your child at the campus to determine his or her academic level, social skills, etc. The admissions testing process ranges in depth depending upon the grade your child is entering. Pre-primary students may also participate in a classroom visit as part of the assessment process. Fairmont considers for admissions students who can demonstrate their ability to perform at or above grade level in a variety of subjects.
  • Step 3: Enroll

Once the assessment process determines that your child is working on average or above average for his or her age/grade level, we ask that parents complete an enrollment contract and return a 10% tuition deposit to secure their child’s placement for the coming school year. Further orientation materials and meetings will follow to help ensure you and your child have a positive transition to Fairmont.
