CHARACTER EDUCATION PROGRAM
Character education is an integral part of Fairmont’s curriculum from preschool through high school. Our character education program is based on Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (at school). This program helps students think about decisions they make and prepares them for leadership roles in the 21st century. The 7 Habits are:- Be Proactive - I am responsible for my actions
- Begin with the end in mind - I plan ahead and set goals
- Put First things First - I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan
- Think Win-Win - I build trust and look for various ways to resolve conflicts
- Seek First to understand, then to Be understood - I listen before I talk
- Synergize - I value other people’s strengths and learn from them
- Sharpen the saw - I find the right balance between school, health, family, and friends
ASSIST PROGRAM
the ASSIST Program provides academic assistance to students needing reinforcement in a specific area of learning. The program also offers enrichment opportunities to students with identified strengths. The program allows ASSIST teachers to use an array of teaching strategies in a one-on-one or small group setting to address individual student needs.
